Au soleil excessif
Maison de la Culture Janine Sutto
7 September - 29 October 2023
Curated by Chih-Chien Wang, Isabelle Mae-Yen Bredt, and OK Pedersen
What is the consequence of making an image? This six-week exhibition presents six new-generation artists exploring the future of images––their by-products, repercussions, afterlives, future pasts and transformative potential. Unfolding in three acts, the content of the ‘paper room’––an architectural intervention by the curators at the heart of the exhibition––transforms every 2 weeks. Working in pairs, the artists take turns occupying the ‘paper room’ at the heart of the exhibition space to present distinct and focused answers to the question: what is the future of photography? Filling the fragile container with a certain density of context, emotion, and information, these individual works give meaning to the raw materials, photographs and videos displayed throughout the larger exhibition space - a flood of images both created and found by the artists throughout their lives.
